Does HP+ apply to laser toner too?

Yes. The 'e' suffix means the same terms as on HP's inkjets: enrolling gets extra warranty and requires the printer to stay online and to use Original HP supplies for its life. Owners who bought a laser to get away from HP's ink behaviour are regularly surprised. Declining at setup keeps the option of third-party toner.

How long does the toner last?

The 142A is rated 950 pages, and the cartridge in the box is a 500-page starter. For a laser that is small — Brother's equivalent high-yield cartridge holds 3,000. If you print more than a few pages a week, expect to be buying toner sooner than the 'lasers last forever' reputation suggests.

Why is there no cost per page for it here?

HP publishes the 950-page yield, but no genuine HP toner price could be read from a source that would open — hp.com's store renders prices in JavaScript and returns nothing to a fetch, and the big retailers block automated reads.
